Curated Warmth — Antiques, Art & Contemporary Living in the Prescott Foothills

Nestled in the timber-forested foothills of Prescott, Arizona, this residence offered something rare — a home where morning coffee and evening wine felt equally at home on the balcony, framed by sweeping views and the quiet company of local wildlife. The project was an equity aesthetic refresh scope that brought intentional transformation to every room without losing the soul of the place.

The kitchen received a thoughtful renovation: task lighting was introduced for both function and atmosphere, glass inserts added visual depth to the cabinetry, and additional storage expanded the workspace. Throughout the home, new carpet, paint, and architectural details — including moldings, casings, and hand-crafted beams — elevated the interiors, while a new fireplace with a stone surround and artful wall coverings brought warmth and dimension to the living spaces.

Lighting was a cornerstone of the design strategy. The original home had been painted in a pervasive summer yellow, compounded by ceiling cans fitted with bulbs of the wrong color temperature — together, they created a harsh, glare-heavy environment that amplified the yellow cast throughout every room. Recalibrating the light sources transformed the palette entirely. Decorative fixtures were carefully selected, and track lighting was deployed to spotlight the clients' curated art collection, family photography, and the juniper wood floating shelves installed in the niche flanking the new fireplace — a display space for treasured accessories and collected objects.

At the heart of this project was a beautifully layered design challenge: honoring the distinct tastes of a husband-and-wife duo who approached style from different directions. The solution was a collected, layered aesthetic — globe-trotting antiques and heirloom pieces woven together with contemporary furnishings and fresh decor. The result speaks in one voice while carrying two points of view.

Both clients longed for a cozier, more enveloping atmosphere — the kind that older homes with lower ceilings naturally provide. The design answered this through materiality and scale: warm textures, intimate lighting, the visual weight of the beams and stone, and cabinet hardware that grounded each space. The home was also conceived for easy, gracious entertaining a place where the couple could welcome friends from their community with ease and comfort.
